Recap: Miami vs. Colorado

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Casey McGehee's sixth-inning RBI single proved to be the difference as the Miami Marlins beat the Colorado Rockies 4-3 on Tuesday.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Adeiny Hechavarria and Giancarlo Stanton also knocked in runs for the Marlins, who made a winner out of Nathan Eovaldi (1-0).

Eovaldi scattered six hits over six innings, allowing two runs with six strikeouts.

"We talked about getting on the other end of those one-run games," said Marlins coach Mike Redmond. "We had a lot of great at-bats. We had four different guys drive in runs so that's good stuff."

Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez each had an RBI double and scored a run for the Rockies. Brett Anderson (0-1), who spent his first five seasons with Oakland before being traded in the offseason, took the loss after allowing four runs -- three earned -- over six innings.

"They (did) their homework on me," said Anderson. "It seemed like after two strikes my put-away pitch, my strikeout pitch was my slider and they were kind of sitting on that. I started to mix and match and thought I did a pretty good job of that."

The Marlins won the opener of the four-game series 10-1 on Monday.

Anderson retired 10 straight batters before pinch-hitter Reed Johnson led off the sixth inning with a line-drive double to right-center. Johnson advanced to third on a Christian Yelich groundout before Jeff Baker walked to put runners at the corners with one out.

Stanton drove in Johnson with a ground out to third, which made it 3-2. DJ LeMahieu attempted to turn a double play, but was charged with an error after overthrowing first baseman Justin Morneau, allowing Stanton to move up into scoring position.

After a four-RBI debut with the Marlins on Opening Day, McGehee ripped a single up the middle to score Stanton and make it a two-run game.

Carlos Marmol pitched a scoreless seventh to maintain the two-run lead, but Colorado opened the top half of the eighth with a pair of doubles to cut the deficit in half. Michael Cuddyer ripped the first pitch he saw from Mike Dunn down the left-field line and Gonzalez followed with a double to make it 4-3.

Tulowitzki flied out to center and Morneau grounded out to third before Wilin Rosario walked to put runners at first and third with two outs.

A.J. Ramos proceeded to strike out Nolan Arenado with a breaking ball that froze the Rockies third baseman and held the Marlins' one-run lead.

Steve Cishek set the Rockies down in order in the ninth inning to secure the save.

Earlier, Garrett Jones recorded his first hit as a Marlin and Saltalamacchia knocked in his first run in a Miami uniform with a double to left to open the scoring in the second.

Hechavarria connected on a sacrifice fly to right to score Saltalamacchia and push the margin to 2-0 after two.

Gonzalez walked with one out in the fourth inning and Tulowitzki followed with a line-drive double to the gap in right field, which cut the deficit to 2-1.

Morneau followed with a broken-bat pop up that fell into no-man's land in between McGehee and Hechavarria. Tulowitzki moved up to third on the play and Rosario knocked him in with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 2-2.
