Zimmermann gets two-year deal with Nats; Storen agrees to terms

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Nationals have avoided salary arbitration with pitchers Jordan Zimmermann and Drew Storen.

Terms of Storen's pact were not disclosed, while Zimmermann agreed to a two- year deal.

Zimmermann had a breakout season in 2013, earning his first All-Star nod en route to a career-high and NL-best 19 wins. He finished 19-9 with a 3.25 ERA in 32 starts after a 2012 campaign that featured a 12-8 mark and a 2.94 ERA in 32 outings.

In 113 career starts, all with Washington, the 27-year-old right-hander is 43-35 with a 3.40 ERA.

Storen was 4-2 with a 4.52 ERA in 68 games last season. He was the club's closer in 2011, finishing fourth in the NL with 43 saves in 48 chances, then missed the first part of 2012 with elbow problems before making 37 appearances later that season.

In 232 career big league games, all with the Nationals, the 26-year-old righty is 17-10 with 55 saves and a 3.40 ERA.
