Rangers sign P Perez to minor league deal

Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers agreed to terms Saturday with left-handed pitcher Rafael Perez on a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Perez, 31, pitched for minor league affiliates in the Minnesota and Boston organizations last season, going a combined 3-2 with a 2.60 ERA and six saves over 29 relief appearances with Triple-A Rochester and Double-A Portland.

The lefty reliever last pitched in the majors in 2012, when he went 1-0 with a 3.52 ERA over eight appearances with the Cleveland Indians.

Over seven big league seasons, all with Cleveland, Perez has gone 21-12 with a 3.64 ERA in 338 appearances out of the bullpen.
