Bronx, NY ( - The New York Yankees have reportedly come to terms with eight-time All-Star outfielder Carlos Beltran on a three-year, $45 million contract.

The move came on the same day the Yankees reportedly lost All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano to the Seattle Mariners via free agency.

The New York Daily News reported the agreement for Beltran, who will turn 37 in April. He hit .296 with 24 homers and 84 RBI in 145 games for the Cardinals last season. It was the final season of a two-year, $26 million pact.

If the signing becomes official it will be a return to New York for Beltran, who starred for the Mets from 2005-11 when he was under a $119 million deal. He was traded to the Giants just before the trade deadline in 2011.

The Daily News reports Beltran figures to play right field for the Yankees and would also spend time at designated hitter.

Over 16 major league seasons, Beltran has batted .283 with 358 homers and 1,327 RBI. He spent his first 6 1/2 seasons playing for Kansas City and also was on the Astros in 2004 after being traded to Houston.

It's been a busy past few days for the Yankees. They officially signed catcher Brian McCann to a five-year, $85 million contract on Tuesday. They've also reportedly come to terms on a seven-year, $153 million deal with former Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury. On Friday, the team signed utility man Kelly Johnson to a one-year deal.
