Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Indians have officially signed catcher Yan Gomes to a six-year contract extension, which includes club options for 2020 and 2021.

The deal is worth $23 million and the club options amount to $9 million in 2020 and $11 million in 2021 with a $1 million buyout, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Gomes appeared in 88 games for the Indians last season and hit .294 with 11 homers and 38 runs batted in. He was acquired by Cleveland from Toronto in a November 2012 trade that sent pitcher Esmil Rogers to the Blue Jays.

The 26-year-old Gomes made his big league debut for Toronto in 2012 and hit just .204 with four homers and 13 RBI in 43 games for the Blue Jays.
