Recap: Texas A&M vs. Arkansas

Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Malcome Kennedy's touchdown catch in overtime helped No. 6 Texas A&M survive a scare with a 35-28 win over Arkansas.

The Aggies (5-0, 2-0 SEC) trailed by two touchdowns entering the fourth, but touchdown grabs by Edward Pope and Josh Reynolds rallied Texas A&M. Reynolds' 59-yard score tied the game with 2:08 left to set up overtime.

Texas A&M began the extra session with the ball and the first play saw Kenny Hill rifle a pass over the middle where Kennedy caught the ball and ran it in for a 35-28 lead.

Arkansas (3-2, 0-2) quickly faced a 4th-and-1, but Alex Collins was stuffed at the line and the Aggies held on for the win.

Hill finished the game 21-for-41 for 386 yards with four touchdown passes and an interception, with Pope catching two of the scores among his four receptions for 151 yards for Texas A&M.

"We just kind of came together as a group at halftime and knew we had to turn things up," said Hill. "It was tough mentally because we faced some adversity and we hadn't really faced any yet."

Brandon Allen was 15-of-27 for 199 yards and one score for the Razorbacks, who got rushing scores from Collins, Jonathan Williams and Sam Irwin-Hill.

It took just over a minute from the start of the game for the Aggies to get on the board, as a 51-yard kickoff return from Trey Williams set up a 13-yard touchdown run by Brandon Williams.

The Razorbacks came right back with an eight-play, 76-yard drive that Jonathan Williams finished off on a 9-yard run with just over nine minutes to play in the first.

Texas A&M recovered a fumble on Arkansas' next touch, but were unable to take advantage of the takeaway.

On the third play of the second quarter, Arkansas went on top as Collins took a handoff up the middle, cut past one defender and raced into the end zone on a 50-yard score and a 14-7 lead.

The Aggies answered on their ensuing touch as Hill found Pope for an 8-yard score with 10 minutes left in the half. The nine-play, 65-yard drive featured a 10-yard run from Hill on third down, followed by a 24-yard gallop from Tra Carson.

Following a 40-yard field goal miss from Josh Lambo, Arkansas faced a 4th- and-10 near midfield and lined up for the punt. Punter Irwin-Hill, though, took the snap around the left end, and raced all the way into the end zone for a 51-yard score and a 21-14 lead.

Arkansas added to its lead with five minutes to play in the third as Allen faked a handoff and went deep for AJ Derby, who caught the pass in-stride and raced in from 44 yards out for a 28-14 lead.

Early in the fourth, Texas A&M got within a score as Hill went deep for Pope, who came up with the ball and took it in for an 86-yard score and a 28-21 lead with 12 minutes to play.

Each team then punted twice and Arkansas was able to get into scoring position as John Henson lined up for a 44-yard field goal with just over 2 1/2 minutes to play, but he missed it well to the left and Texas A&M took over at the 27.

Two plays later, Hill hit Reynolds along the right sideline and he made a defender miss on the way to a 59-yard score and a tie game with 2:08 to play.
