David Fisher completed 14- of-26 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns as the Golden Flashes dropped their third consecutive game.

Midway through the first quarter, South Alabama tallied the game's first score with a five-yard touchdown run by Jones. After a 45-yard field goal by Aleem Sunanon early in the second quarter, the Jaguars led 10-0.

Kent State answered back strong on the ensuing drive as Archer ran for a 74- yard touchdown. The Jaguars then responded with a nine-play, 79-yard drive, which was capped off by a 16-yard touchdown pass from Metheny to Danny Woodson. South Alabama led 17-7 at the break.

The Jaguars kept things going in the second half. Houston took in a three-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter, and early in the fourth quarter Metheny ran in a 16-yard touchdown of his own to increase South Alabama's lead to 31-7.

On the first play of the following drive, Fisher passed to Archer, who made a nice move on a defender and took it all the way to the end zone for a 73-yard touchdown.

Houston ran in a 14-yard touchdown a few minutes later for his second score of the day to effectively put the game away for South Alabama.

With the game out of hand in the final minute, Fisher completed a four-yard pass to Casey Pierce for a touchdown to pad Kent State's stats.
