Wyoming will not retain Christensen

Laramie, WY (Sports Network) - Wyoming head football coach Dave Christensen will not be retained as head coach. athletics director Tom Burman announced Sunday.

Christensen was 27-35 over five seasons with the Cowboys.

"We have come to a point where our football program has not achieved at the level of success that we expect, and we know from past experience that we can be successful," Burman said.

Christensen was named the 2011 Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Cowboys to an 8-5 record.

Christensen spent the eight seasons prior to 2009 as an offensive assistant coach with Missouri while also spending time with Toledo, Idaho State and Washington.
