PICAYUNE, MS (AP) - Deputy Chief Chad Dorn said both grants were awarded to the department last week. The Occupant Protection Grant is for $5,000 and it allows the department to participate in the national "Click It or Ticket" campaign.
The department also received the Impaired Driving Countermeasures Grant of just over $26,000. Dorn says that grant funds officers to work overtime during peak traffic hours while primarily looking for impaired drivers.
