The attorney for fired Canton Public School District superintendent Ike Haynes says a hearing has been scheduled for him. Attorney Lisa Ross tells The Clarion-Ledger it will be Dec. 17 and Dec. 18. The school district fired Haynes last month. The board hasn't disclosed a reason.

Blue Bell ice cream will be available in Louisiana and Jackson, Mississippi, on Dec. 21 after listeria contamination halted sales and prompted cleanup of production plants. Blue Bell on Tuesday also announced the return of 115 workers put on paid furlough after the April voluntary recall of all products. The company will have about 1,000 employees, including at plants in Alabama and Oklahoma now supplying consumers in those states, plus Texas.

Earthquake in Mississippi Today
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has been notified by the United States Geological Survey that a 3.2 magnitude earthquake with a depth of three miles, centered just 4 miles southwest of Canton, Miss., struck at 8:23 a.m. Residents in the area reported feeling the rumbling in their homes. At this time Madison County Emergency Management is not reporting any injuries or damages.
