The Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System hosted a VA2K walk Wednesday morning to encourage healthy activity while supporting homeless veterans with donated items. The VA2K Walk and Roll encouraged volunteers to walk around the Veterans Affairs campus in Biloxi to show their support, while many volunteers brought blankets, flashlights, batteries, and more to be donated to the homeless. Program Manager, Eric Olsen, says their efforts are starting to pay off.

Olsen says, “Actually, in the last year, there has been about a 7 to 10% decrease of homeless in general and of veterans as well, so that’s positive news that the goal is working.” The Department of Veterans Affairs is committed to stop homelessness of veterans by 2015.
