News 25 spoke with the University of Southern Mississippi’s President, Dr. Rodney Bennett about recent changes at the Gulf Park Campus.
The university is searching for a new Chief Administrator for the Long Beach Campus in the aftermath of the resignation of Frances Lucas. President Dr. Bennett says he will spend the summer putting together a search process for a new Gulf Park Vice President. He aims to hire a full-time Vice President for the campus by January 2015.
Dr. Bennett explains, “Because the Gulf Park Campus is very important to me and the university, I’m not going to settle for a less than ideal candidate. So, should the search process go into the spring semester, that’s okay with me. It’s worth the wait to get a highly qualified, seasoned administrator to be the Chief Administrative Officer for that campus.”
Dr. Bennett tells News 25 that Dr. Lucas helped restore the campus in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and he’s happy she will continue to be a member of the university’s faculty.
