The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has received reports of two weather related traffic deaths as a result of the ongoing winter weather event.

“Deborah and I extend our thoughts and prayers to the families of those who lost their lives during this winter storm,” said Gov. Phil Bryant. “I urge Mississippians to stay aware of changing weather conditions and to stay off of roadways in impacted areas if possible.”

The National Weather Service is warning of several risks around the state today through Wednesday:

·North Mississippi: anywhere from one to four inches of snow.

·Mississippi Delta counties: anywhere from one quarter to one inch of ice accumulation and one to two inches of snow.

·Central and East Mississippi: wintry mix of rain and freezing rain.

·South Mississippi: one to three inches of rain. Flood Warnings have been issued along the Pearl and Chickasawhay rivers.

If you lose power in your home, contact your county emergency management agency to find out where shelters are set up in your community. For a full list of county emergency managers, go to
