The Gulfport City Council will vote next Tuesday, on the amendment to budget funds from M.D.O.T. to widen Three Rivers Road and Creosote Road from Highway 49 to Airport Road. Federal funds of more than 3 million dollars have been approved with additional costs to be funded by the 2012 paving bond issue. News 25 talked to a local business owner to see how they think the new road will affect business. Jeff Savarese, owner of Real Wood Furniture Showcase, says, “I think it’s great. We've been waiting probably ten years for it to come. It'll be a lot easier to get in and out of traffic. Traffic will flow a lot better. I love it.” A concern some business owners have is that the construction will drive away new customers, and if it is passed, they hope it will be a quick and easy process.
