The weather for Tuesday will be a combination of mild to not so mild conditions, especially as the day progresses beyond sunset. The start of the day, 11-12-13, was mild with temperatures near the 50º mark, a light north breeze and a few clouds. The rest of the day will be partly cloudy and cool with a daytime high temperature just shy of 70 º. That light north breeze will increase during the late afternoon hours from 10 up to 30 mph, strongest this evening and overnight.
Cold and dry conditions will settle in behind an approaching artic cold front. Wind speeds in excess of 5 mph and temps colder than 40ºF create a wind chill and that will likely drop the temperatures to feel more like they are in the 20's! The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for early Wednesday morning for the following counties in South Mississippi: HANCOCK-HARRISON-JACKSON-PEARL RIVER-WILKINSON-AMITE-PIKE-WALTHALL. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing around three in the morning Wednesday November 13, 2013 and should remain below freezing after sunrise. Colder air could also remain for Thursday morning, but this brief round of winter will be just that, brief. If a Freeze warning is not valid for Thursday morning, then we will already be on our way to warmer conditions. Next weekend, while the temps should mellow out back into the mid/upper 70's, a chance of rain showers
