This year, the church partnered with Lakeland Tours to pick up community members who needed a place to eat and spend time on Thanksgiving. All day, members of the church cooked homemade dishes, even fried turkeys, to make sure their guests ate like family. Overseer, Kevin l. Payton, says Thanksgiving is an important holiday to give back. He says, “We have a lot to be thankful for and I think this is an opportunity for our churches to actually reach back into our community and make sure that our people have food to eat. For me it was extremely important. I’m sitting there eating, and I wanted to make sure that others have food as well, exactly like what we would normally eat.” The church is also running a coat drive, and gave their visitors to-go boxes full of food to take home.
