After Hurricane Katrina destroyed the gym at Sacred Heart School in D'Iberville, a new facility will finally open. The St. Vincent de Paul Society shared the gym space with Sacred Heart and now they too are moving into their new home.
Tuesday, the group moved their food pantry, furniture, and equipment to get ready for their opening. The St. Vincent de Paul at the Sacred Heart facility served the needy in D'Iberville. They say with their new space, they'll be better able to serve.
Sandra Babuchna, the President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, says, “We had 11 feet of water in our facility after Katrina, so we had to move into a temporary building, which we operated from last June until this past May. We have been fortunate enough for our pastor to give us an additional room. Everything is totally renovated.” The group is looking forward to their improved service to the poor through the new facility.
