Ship Island Excursions resumes daily passenger service on Saturday, March 15th. Captain Louis Skrmetta said his family's 88 year old business is adding more departures to the island excursion schedule this year to meet visitor demand. The boat dock and ticket office is located on the west side of the Gulfport Yacht Harbor next to the lighthouse and Farmer's Market Pavilion. Skrmetta said he expects a good tourism season on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. "We are hoping for good weather this summer and hope our expanded boat schedule will prove more accommodating for the visiting public".

All public facilities on the island will be open offering food service, restrooms, showers with changing rooms, and covered picnic areas. The National Park Service will provide tours of Ft. Massachusetts and special island programs throughout the season. Captain Skrmetta also said a large part of the island’s South Beach lost to erosion last year regained much of its’ submerged shoreline over winter, creating a beautiful natural beach for visitors to enjoy this year.
