The Secretary of the Air Force toured Keesler Air Force Base Friday. Secretary Deborah Lee James was escorted by Senator Roger Wicker, Congressman Steven Palazzo, and several officials at Keesler. The tour was requested by Wicker and Palazzo as an attempt to show the secretary how successful Keesler has been, and how important Keesler is to the Gulf Coast community. News 25 met up with Brigadier General Patrick Higby of Keesler to discuss what he was expecting during the tour.
Higby says, “The goal is to wow her with how great Keesler is and how great the community support is. What I wrote in my welcome note to her, on the last sentence of the welcome note, I said, ‘By the time you leave here, you will want my job.’ So my objective, if she leaves tomorrow and says, ‘General Higby, I want your job, because it's the best job in the Air force,’ then I know we've been successful.” The tour was closed to the media and photos have not yet been made available to News 25.
