It's Salvation Army Week, and in south Mississippi, the non-profit has a lot to celebrate. The Salvation Army Family Store moved its location a year ago to a plaza near the intersection of Pass Road and Hewes Avenue in Gulfport. Since then, a lot of work has been underway as they renovated the store. The charity is hoping to have a record day in sales Saturday during its grand re-opening celebration. Money raised will be part of a fundraiser to help keep Salvation Army services going.
Roxane Lance, Store Manager, says, "So tomorrow, our goal is to raise $5,000 for our social programs, which goes to help the homeless, our homeless shelter that is down on 22nd Street, our food bank, our food pantry, and all the housing assistance and things we help people with." The Salvation Army Canteen will be on site, serving up hot dogs, snacks, and drinks to visitors. There will also be door prizes given out.
