Jeramey Anderson goes down in history as being Mississippi's youngest elected state lawmaker. Anderson drew a lot of attention today, especially as a freshman legislator. He was all smiles for the camera, and for good reason. He's 22 years old and goes down in history as the youngest person to serve in the state legislature. Anderson says, “Like I said, a different perspective will be offered because I’m young. I’m very energetic, so I’ll be able to use that to my advantage. Also I’m going to be able to work on both sides. I don’t see party lines. I’m going to do what’s best for my constituents and what’s best for the state.” Long- time Coast lawmakers were on hand to greet Anderson and offered to share advice if needed. Anderson tells us that his youth is an advantage in some ways. He says, “It’s a big responsibility and it’s a responsibility I set out to have. One of my goals was to inspire a generation of leaders who for so long have been forgotten about, and I’ve done that.” Of course, he'll have his challenges. The Moss Point resident is working on his college degree right now, but he knows this true life experience is invaluable, and may one day lead to his ultimate dream.
