Congressman Steven Palazzo, (MS-4), this week welcomed Joshua Lindsey and his family to Washington. Lindsey, an English teacher at Hancock High School, was named the 2013 Mississippi Teacher of the Year and is being recognized by President Obama and the First Lady in a Rose Garden ceremony on Thursday.
“Our teachers are more than just educators,” Palazzo stated. “They are role models that can forever influence our children’s lives. It’s encouraging to see teachers like Mr. Lindsey take on this great responsibility with enthusiasm. I wish him all the best, and I congratulate him on this prestigious honor.”
Lindsey traveled to Washington with his wife Kristi, infant son, Elijah, and Kristi’s parents, Ricky and Vickie Carlisle. In addition to visiting the White House, the family is also touring the Capitol through Congressman Palazzo’s office.
Mr. Lindsey is an eleven-year veteran of the classroom, and a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Mississippi.
