The yard is at the corner of Denny Avenue and Weed Street in Ocean Springs. The city ordered Joe Daily to clean up the yard, as it violates city codes and could become a breeding ground for snakes. Daily says his yard is a tribute to the 9-11 tragedies and it is his right to have whatever he wants on his property. Daily says, “I feel real bad inside. I feel bad. I feel like they neglected my rights. You know, this is a free country. This is not a communist country. I sure have the right to display my grief the way I want, but the city says ‘no you can’t do that.’" We reached out to Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran. She says, "This property has been a continued cause for concern in its neighborhood. The code enforcer has followed the due process with proper notifications, citations, and court. The judge has ordered the property to be cleaned up within 28 days. To have the yard and area outside the fence completely cluttered with mirrors and debris is not only a nuisance, but a public safety hazard. The judge has spoken."
