Ocean Springs’ water system scored a perfect five point ‘O’ rating from the Mississippi Department of Health for the 11th consecutive year. The three categories include water treatment processes, a water system improvements plan, and review of water rates for the city. Director of Public Works, Andre Kaufman, says it's the dedication and hard work of the employees that make the rating possible. Kaufman says, "We are extremely proud. Our people work hard both in the field and providing the water the chlorination and pressure. We work hand in hand with the Fire Department because they rely on our water in their fire hydrants and we work very closely with the people at City Hall who handle the building and that nature." Kaufman says the Ocean Springs water system was one of the only systems in the entire state to get the perfect rating.
