The Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street – Tourism Bureau and 1699 Historical Society will present the April Business After Hours on Friday, April 25th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Hancock Bank, 901 Washington Avenue. Chamber members and community are invited to attend.
1699 Historical Society will kick-off its annual Weekend of Discovery during the event with a traditional full dress presentation of d’Iberville and the Landing Party. Come find out who will be this year’s Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville. Refreshments will be provided. Bring your business cards for giveaways and a $5 donation.
The Weekend of Discovery will continue on Saturday with a 5K Race of Discovery/Walk and 1-mile Kids’ Fun Run at Fort Maurepas on Front Beach beginning at 8:30 a.m. One mile free kids run/walk begins at 9:15 a.m. Special Mass at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with landing participants in full dress begins at 10 a.m. Discovery Regatta Day 1 at Yacht Club and Children’s Pet Parade at Little Children’s Park begin at 11 a.m. Registration for parade starts at 10 a.m. Lunch and Awards presentation with Landing participants will follow at Ocean Springs Yacht Club at 12 p.m. The Landing of d’Iberville festivities continue at 3 p.m. with reenactment at 4 p.m.

The purpose of the 1699 Historical Society is to preserve and celebrate the unique culture and history of Ocean Springs and the surrounding Gulf Coast. Every April, the Society stages a dramatic and colorful reenactment of the historic landing of Monsieur d’Iberville and his party on our shores.
