A new park at Point Cadet in Biloxi is nearly complete. The park is dominated by a giant pavilion that is already being rented for local events. The park also features a playground and splash pad that shoots water into the air.
The park will be next door to the Seafood Industry Museum, which is also still under construction. This weekend, the Biloxi Police Department will be holding a crawfish boil at Point Cadet Park to raise money for the Special Olympics, and later on this year, the famous Biloxi Seafood Festival will be making a return to Point Cadet and will be held at the park.
George Lawrence, Biloxi Councilman for Ward 1, says, “It’s going to be great for the east end of the city. Coming across the bridge, it’s going to be a great gateway into the city. You’re going to have the Seafood Museum, the pavilion, the splash pad. It’s going to be one awesome sight coming across the bridge. It’s going to be great for the City of Biloxi.” Both the park and the Seafood Industry Museum are set to open next month.
