Salute's in Gulfport was the scene of some important news Thursday, and it wasn't about the daily special. Gulfport Councilman, Myles Sharp, announced his candidacy for Circuit Court Judge in Place 2.
Sharp has handled civil and criminal cases in south Mississippi for more than a decade, and has decided to bring his legal experience to the judge's bench. With his family and friends behind him, Sharp hopes that his experience and platform will convince voters to make a change in November's election. Sharp spoke out Thursday about his stance on non-violent offenders.
Sharp says, "For certain, very limited criminal offences, non-violent offences, I want to see and make a push to increase the use of house arrest in cases, because that puts the cost and the burden of incarceration on the offender.” Sharp is an Ole Miss grad, is married, has three children, and resides in Gulfport.
