Moss Point has done it again! The City of Moss Point has been re-certified as an official Excel By 5 community and plans to celebrate with a community-wide Re-Certification Excelebration on Saturday, May 31st, 2014 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Family Education Center (West Elementary Campus). This a day for families to come out and celebrate with games, puppet shows, art activities, and music from Moss Point High’s world renowned jazz band,” says Patrice McCullum, Excel by 5 certification manager. “In addition to the wonderful activities planned, parents will have chance to tour our Family Education Center and see what endless opportunities it has to offer.
The first of its kind, Excel by 5 emphasizes the important roles parents and primary caregivers play in educating their children during their most formative years, birth to five. The goal of Excel By 5 is to ensure that children enter school with the skills they need to be successful in school and in life. There are a variety of standards involving parent training, community participation, childcare and health, to help communities focus on supporting pre-kindergarten children and their families.
“We very much appreciate and recognize the many volunteer hours and the hard work that went into reaching our re-certification standard,” says Chairperson Stephanie Packer.
