An educational institution on the Gulf Coast is celebrating Donate Life Month on its campus. Miller Motte Technical College partnered with the American Red Cross for a blood drive at its facility in Gulfport. Donors gave blood inside while a health fair was held outside, complete with a dunk tank. The American Heart Association and the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (M.O.R.A.) were also there on hand, promoting health for community, staff, and students.
James Buie, Medical Assistance Program Director for Miller Motte Technical College, says, “As a medical facility teaches students about med assisting, billing and coding, office administration, we're trying to help them to understand how important it is to reach out to the community and do those things that will help build a healthy heart.” Miller Motte Technical College also had a mini-heart walk around their campus to further promote heart health.
