While Biloxi is ranked one of the top places to live, the Mississippi Gulf Coast is also a great place to visit. Tourism is a major money maker for coastal areas and the Coast is currently in the prime of the busy summer season, and things are looking better than they have in years.

Coast officials are happy with the number of out-of-towners Harrison County has drawn in this summer, excited to show off what the Gulf Coast has to offer.

Windy Swetman, Harrison County Supervisor for District 1, says, “Well the good things in Harrison County right now are that this tourism season has been promising. Numbers are looking back at pre-Katrina levels. There's a lot of activity, a lot of growth going on here in Harrison County and we're proud of that. So good things in Harrison County right now, so those are the things I think we ought to be talking about.”

Although many local schools are back in session, many schools up north don't start for another month, meaning there is still time for the tourism industry to thrive.
