The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (M.D.E.Q.) has issued a beach closure in Biloxi from Beauvoir Road to the east end of Sadler Beach Drive.

The closure is being issued due to a sewage overflow located at Brady Drive. M.D.E.Q. advises residents not to enter the water or consume any seafood collected from these near shore waters until further notice.

Ted Torgrimson, a Biloxi resident, says, “I just don’t think it’s right that it should be out there. If it was something that could be avoided, but I didn’t know about it and I was out there in that water last night.”

M.D.E.Q. will monitor the water and lift the closure when bacteria levels indicate conditions are safe for water contact.
