A group of veterans are doing their part to help the victims of the recent Tupelo disaster. The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 5 Gulfport is accepting donations until Friday. People with donations can drop them off at the D.A.V. off of Pass Road in Gulfport. Wednesday is day one of their collection efforts and they are hoping that other veterans, and the community at large, will help the friends and loved ones in the devastated area.

Max Stone, a Vietnam veteran, says, “We think we going to help them out because they helped us a whole lot during Hurricane Katrina. My family lives in Tupelo. They stayed in a shelter all day and all night. They called me at 10 o’clock to let me know they was okay.” The veterans plan to leave early Saturday morning to bring the donated supplies up to the people affected.
