A few local students received some hands on experience when it comes to the government. Students from Sacred Heart Elementary School in D'Iberville got to see what it was like to run a City Council meeting at D'Iberville City Hall. The students selected a mayor, council members, and even the city attorney. Jane Sema, the Principal of Sacred Heart, says, "The thought process would get them used to getting out into the community and aware of what's going on in the community. Some of the activities we bring up are things they are familiar with, just changes they can make at the school, and they can debate those challenges there." Some of the issues debated including increasing the amount of recess time and decreasing the amount of homework.
