A deadly attack on Fort Hood left some local parents fearing for the worst. Belinda Kapaun lives in Orange Grove and is the mother of Elizabeth Craig, who is stationed at Fort Hood. Kapaun says she was in constant contact with her daughter through texting for the entire incident. Kapaun says her daughter was able to witness some of the medical response on the base.

Kapaun says, "Her room in her barracks actually overlooks the hospital entrance, so she saw many of the nurses and that sort of thing coming out of the hospital, waiting for various injured to come and then they were ordered from windows and doors." Kapaun reported that her daughter was part of the Warrior Transition Unit which is also the unit the shooter was part of.
