The Asian American Heritage Group had a meeting yesterday to decide how to respond to the need. Many within the group say they have family in the Philippines and are concerned for their safety. A member of the group tells News 25 how they will use the help of a well-known nonprofit to reach out. June Harris, the V.P. of the Asian American Heritage Group, says, “We decided yesterday to do a fundraiser. We are trying to coordinate with the American Red Cross International. So once that fundraising kicks in, 100 percent of profits will go to the Philippines. We can't give everything that they need, but to help them out in our own little ways to ease their pain and suffering lets them know that somewhere outside their world is looking after them.” The Asian American Heritage Group plans to sell Filipino food and donate store profits to aid the Philippines.
