Some local businesses can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The intersection of Howard Avenue and Caillavet Street was being paved and re-opened Friday. The construction is in relation to the M.G.M. baseball stadium, which is located between Caillavet and Howard Avenues.

The area has been cut off because a considerable amount of infrastructure needed to be reworked before any paving could be done. Officials are expected to be finished with the intersection of Howard and Caillavet either Friday or Saturday, and expect to have completed the entire Caillavet project in a matter of weeks.

Vincent Creel, Biloxi Public Affairs Manager, says, "We apologize profusely to the few businesses that were impacted by this work. I know it has been a challenge, but we're glad to say that there is light at the end of the tunnel and it’s going to be coming in the form of a steamroller, which is out there today."
