Dave Parez has been working the last two weeks on a seven foot tall wolverine chainsaw carving and sign that will be placed outside Lizana Elementary School. The school’s mascot is the wolverine, and Parez thought the school needed the sign to distinguish themselves. He says he was happy to donate his time and effort to give back to his community. Parez says, "If you look around, there’s no wolverine to be found. They have a small picture of a wolverine’s head busting out of the sign, but that's not really much. My son does go to school here, so I wanted to contribute to his school and give back to the community." Parez is now putting the finishing touches on the sculpture. He says a wood carving of this size would normally cost around $3,000.
