If you’re still looking for those last minute gifts, you’re going to have fewer and fewer options. The Edgewater Mall closed at 6 p.m. this evening and there were still a few people there trying to get the last thing on their lists. One shopper says, "No thought yet. Whatever I see that catches my eye is what I'm going to get." It's the last day before Christmas and stores were still packed with people who put off their holiday shopping. Tyron Baker, another shopper, says, "Something that will make her happy that's the non-benefits of waiting to the last minute. This is my first time shopping during the holiday season." This procrastination is a common theme among the shoppers that made their way to the Edgewater Mall in Biloxi today. Jahshri, another shopper, says, "My mom was just begging for stuff, so I came out to buy some Ugg Boots."
Allison McNeill, another mall shopper, says, "We are just last minute Christmas shopping. She’s buying me the presents." Shoppers at the Edgewater Mall were not only able to purchase these gifts, but were also able to get them wrapped free of charge. Adam Westmoreland, the President of the Interact Club, says, "We are out here doing some gift wrapping for people and it’s just a donation.” A few people who work at the mall say that this Christmas Eve has been just a little busier than normal. Garrett Hopkins, an employee at My Kind of Place, says, "Yesterday slammed. There wasn't a moment when there wasn’t someone in the store." Jared Walters, the owner of Sweet Retreat, says, "Candy sales don't really start ‘til after lunch, so I have high hopes, but the store performance is much better than it was last Christmas." The Premium Outlet Mall in Gulfport will remain open until 8 p.m. tonight.
