Monday, April 28th was Confederate Memorial Day, and the Jefferson Davis Home celebrated southern pride this past weekend with an annual celebration. Saturday morning, the historic property brought visitors back in time. Local musicians entertained the crowds alongside speakers in historical dress. The Beauvoir used the time to recognize the Unknown Soldier and all other confederate soldiers that are buried in its cemetery.

Greg Stewart, the director of the Beauvoir, says, “Well, to those of us who want to honor the sacrifices of the soldiers, it’s a big deal, and it’s a proper and fitting way to pause and take a little time out to consider the larger world and other people’s sacrifices, and so we do that.” The Jefferson Davis Home invites the community to celebrate southern heritage at the historic property.
