The Jackson County Sheriff's Department began taking an inventory of the entire department’s resources today. Britt says he wanted to take an inventory of former Sheriff, Mike Byrd's, purchases because they did not match county records. Britt says he expects the process to go smoothly and quickly. He says, "The two staff officers we have assigned, they have got it very well organized. It will be efficient and it will flow through. You just have a lot of different parts of the interview: officers on the night shift, jail personnel, administrative personnel, different shifts, it will take some time, but we have 30 days allowed for the inventory." Britt says he expects the inventory will be completed in 30 days and will have a full report shortly after.
