A group of volunteers are gearing up for the inaugural Feed the Need benefit concert and fish fry on Sunday, July 6th from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Government Street Grocery in downtown Ocean Springs. All proceeds benefit The Lord Is My Help soup kitchen to feed the needy in the local community.
Musical talents include Cary Hudson, who was chosen as Top Ten Alternative Country Guitar Players by Gipson magazine; Grayson Capps, who wrote and sang songs for the score of the Golden Globe Award -nominated film, A Love Song for Bobby Long; and Emily Sholes & Jason Sanford of Roscoe Bandanna, an Indie Folk Rock Band from the Mississippi Gulf Coast who was signed by Hard Rock Records. Other musical guests include local artists and fan favorites Rooster Blues and The Dig.
“The main goal of Feed the Need is to give back to our community,” said event organizer, Liz LeBleu. “We intend to raise both money and awareness as we strive to end hunger and help people in need throughout our lovely community.”
The event will be filled with family fun including a fish fry, silent auction with area artists, and a drawing. Tickets to the event are $10 in advance which can be purchased at Government Street Grocery and many small businesses throughout Ocean Springs. Tickets at the door are $15 OR $10 with a bag of canned food.
