When military personnel return home, they often have trouble transitioning from military to civilian jobs, but Tuesday, a job fair at the Biloxi Civic Center looked to help with that process. Hiring Our Heroes hosted the job fair to bring employers directly to the military veteran job seekers.
Almost 40 businesses looking to hire spoke, with over 150 potential employees who attended the fair. Ernie Lombardi, who coordinates these fairs for the southeast, says it’s important to bring Hiring Our Heroes to military communities because so many veterans do get hired from the events. He says this job fair is unique because employers understand the skills and needs of veterans.
Lombardi says, “The employer base that are here today are very supportive of what we're doing here as well. We've got almost 40 employers on the ground today and these employers are local, they're regional, they're state, they're national, and many of the employers have come to many of the Hiring Heroes events we have on a nation-wide basis, so it’s great to have those employers with us today.”
Hiring Our Heroes plans to hold another 35 job fairs throughout the southeast before the end of the year.
