One show will not go on this weekend due to the heavy rain Friday. The Harborfest at Jones Park, in Gulfport has been rescheduled to April 12th. Friday's downpour caused a mess at Jones Park where hundreds of families were expected to show up Saturday for barbecue, live music, and children's activities. More than 75 dogs from the Humane Society of South Mississippi were ready to find new homes at the Harborfest, but thanks to the rain, they'll have to wait two more weeks. Harborfest is a great chance to adopt a pet from the Humane Society or from the 10 other shelters participating in the event.
The festival also offers affordable vaccinations and microchip services on site. Krystyna Schmitt of the Humane Society of South Mississippi says, “So it’s a really great opportunity to update your animal’s vaccinations, spend some time with them, and that sort of thing, so we're really looking forward to the rescheduled date.” The Harborfest is rescheduled for April 12th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
