It takes many hands to build a home. Monday night, Habitat for Humanity teamed up with Lowe’s to hold a power tool workshop for women. About 20 women participated in the event at the Lowe’s store in Gulfport. The women learned how to use hand tools and power tools. The event is part of National Women Build Week, an effort to engage more women in Habitat for Humanity projects.
Adele Lyons of the Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast says, “We want everybody to be safe when they’re out on our job site, but as well when they’re doing home jobs. It’s really empowering for a lot of the ladies to learn to use these tools. You just really see them sit a little straighter once they learn how to use those tools.” Monday night’s workshop was a preparation for a Women's Build project in Moss Point on May 7th and 8th.
