About 75 south Mississippians are hoping to land jobs with a Gulfport construction company after attending a job fair Wednesday, and this is just one of several job fairs H&S White-Spunner Contracting will be hosting to fill jobs in the construction field.

Gulfport resident, Clayton Mizell, has a job, but he's reaching for something better. He's hoping the application he filled out at Wednesday's job fair will lead to just that. Mizell says, "I'm trying to find something better and something to put me on solid ground, you know? I believe this here is going pretty good. I seen a few people in here and it looks like it's showing out for the day." Most of Wednesday's applicants don't have a job. That could soon change since this job fair gives special consideration to the unemployed and those who don't make much money in the jobs they do have now.

Korey Nealous, Human Resources Director for H&S White-Spunner Contracting, says, "We're here. We're based in Gulfport, Mississippi. Now, we'll be looking for applicants and employees throughout the three coastal counties. We're giving special consideration to a certain employee called a Section 3, which is low, low income and is actually governed and set forth by H.U.D. If you aren't working, if you are working, if you do have experience, if you don't have experience, make sure that you make it to one of these job fairs. We're looking for you and we are making sure that H&S White-Spunner provides a good impact, a positive impact on the community, and that we're a great company to do business with and work for."

The company is hosting job fairs throughout the three coastal counties over the next few months, with jobs available in a wide variety of fields, from carpentry to construction cleanup. These fairs are centrally located, but applicants who don't have transportation can get a ride to the job fair with a simple telephone call. As for Mizell, he just happened to be in the neighborhood and saw the chance to walk through a door of opportunity. Mizell closes, "I did a walk in. I was just walking through. I happened to see the sign and I walked in. I come in, did my little application, and hopefully something comes through and shows for the better."

For more information on the company's upcoming job fairs, you can stop by the center at its 25th Avenue location in Gulfport or call the company at (228) 206-2344.
