The Gulfport Police are standing by and have begun closing bridges in the area. For instance, the Cowan Lorraine Bridger, as well as the Wilkes and Kramer Bridges are closed, while police are monitoring the others. Officer Damon McDaniel says police aren't taking any chances after last Friday and are ready with barricades to close the Interstate 10 and Highway 49 exit ramps if needed. McDaniel says, "With the incidents and the amount of crashes that we investigated on Friday, we're taking an active approach, to be prepared for that. As you can see, the temperatures are starting to drop and they've been pretty much that way all day, and I can anticipate that happening here soon, as far as the interstate is concerned." Police will be out in force tonight, helping those who find themselves in trouble on the roads.
