The Gulfport City Council voted Tuesday to hand over a drainage project to the Harrison County Board of Supervisors. Over time, the drainage ditches in the Country Wood Drive neighborhood have filled in with dirt and debris. Now, when Gulfport gets heavy rain, several homes on the drive get a flooded front yard.

Cara Pucheu, a Gulfport City Councilwoman, says, “Basically, you've got a ditch that originally could handle the water, but it’s got a 36 inch pipe going into a ditch that just needs to be cleared out, and Kim Savant is wonderful in helping us in these types of projects, and he is going to be helping us out in this one.”

Savant will spearhead the project as soon as it is approved by the board at their next meeting.
