The Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is gearing up for increased business for the spring and summer seasons. Delta will be operating five flights daily to Atlanta. The airline will be flying larger aircraft to accommodate more passengers. U.S. Airways will operate a 67 seat regional jet in its fleet mix this summer. United Airlines is increasing its frequency from four to five for some portions of the summer, and American Airlines is upping its departures from Gulfport-Biloxi from three to four.
Clay Williams, the Director of the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, says, “We can accommodate up the largest aircraft, we’ve got a 9,000 foot runway and are excited to see the larger aircraft for summer and we want to sustain that. Again, it’s a seasonal service, because again, we have a busier summer travel schedule here along the Gulf Coast, but the more people that utilize Gulfport-Biloxi, the better chance we have of sustaining the service going into the fall and winter months.” Travelers are recommended to book their flights early, making reservations at least three to four weeks in advance.
