New boats and yachts are on the horizon in downtown Gulfport. The Gulf Coast Yacht and Boat Show begins Thursday. All week long, vendors and volunteers have been setting up booths and boats and have been prepping for events, including a sea lion show. This is the second year the show has called Gulfport its home port after organizers moved it from Florida. More than 200 vendors have signed up for this year's show, and coordinators say this is the biggest boat show in the region.
Rob Lynch, the Gulf Coast Yacht and Boat Show Coordinator, says, "We did over 26,000 people last year. It's the largest boat show on the Gulf of Mexico, which is really substantial when you consider Tampa, St. Pete, Houston. Here we have Gulfport, Mississippi as having the biggest boat show on the Gulf." Jet skis, historic schooners, and extravagant yachts are just some of what this year's event will be showcasing. It all kicks off Thursday and the event will wrap up on Sunday.
