The Golden Nugget Casino in Biloxi continued its celebration Friday after finishing its $100 million renovation. Friday, casino executives revealed the largest piece of gold in the world. You won't be finding this metallic bling in someone's jewelry. After 14 months of construction, the new and improved Golden Nugget is complete. The new amenities at the resort include a brand new casino floor, pool deck, and a Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant.
Brad Rhines, the Vice President of Marketing, says the most exciting part is finally opening the doors. He says, "It built a lot of character in people, I think going through that process, and to get to that point where you’re opening the property and seeing the look of pride on everybody’s face, and the look of excitement on our customers faces really hit home with us, and that was the most exciting part." Rhines and fellow executives were joined by the C.E.O. of Landry's, the owner of the property, Tilman Fertitta, to cut the grand opening ribbon. Many Coast officials also joined the celebration to support One Coast.
Jim Hoskins, the General Manager of the Golden Nugget, says, "For our local economy and for the Coast, I just want to see the rising tide. I wanna’ see everything move up. It was great to see so many people from all the cities come around and support One Coast." The biggest reveal of the day was a 61 pound golden nugget, named the Hand of Faith. It’s the largest nugget to be found in Australia, but will now call Biloxi home. Rhines also says, "The Hand of Faith is the largest golden nugget in the world, at 61 pounds 11 ounces, valued well over 3 million bucks, and Biloxi will be its new permanent home."
Saturday, the Golden Nugget will continue celebrating, kicking off its summer concert series, with DJ, Chris Jones, and a concert by Cowboy Mouth.
